Hello Circus Tent !!!
So the reasons of why the change? It's pretty simple. I'm a PvPer who doesn't have the patience (read: lazy) to go solo looking or scanning for potential targets, and the list of things I absolutely can't stand (read: bores me to tears) is getting quite long. It's pretty easy: if The PvP in EVE wasn't as good as it is, I'd uninstall this thing and delete my character without even blinking. But when The PvP goes right and everything falls into place, EVE is just pure magic. The one event that told me "OK, I've had enough!" was when I was trying to get to a Hurricane I had left over in one of the wormhole systems we had recently moved from, the lost-and-found-again Emo Town, and one of its residents scanned down the hi-sec system entry point for me. Unfortunately he didn't stay online so while I had the system, I didn't have the location in space, so I said "Cool, I'll just scan the wormhole from the hi-sec side". The good part was that the entrance system was only 5-6 jumps away from the then-current location of our wormhole. But the fun ended right there. What followed was a nightmarish hour and a half of playing with scan probes to lock down a wormhole I knew was there, and it took me everything and the kitchen sink to finally have it at 100%. And when I warped to it and jumped, horror. No black hole. That meant only one thing: I was in the wrong system. I had wasted close to two hours scanning down the stupid thing to be rewarded with a big "Ha Ha, you fail". So Blackline Corp, I hope the Hurricane is useful; I hear they make great salvagers !!!
And of course on the Clown front there are some usual cries of "Carebear" and "Faggot", or both used together, but it's all good, I feel like I'm home again. I didn't really get to go out with a bang but I did do my best to come back in with one. So now I'll do my best to play as good as I can, shut up when I have to, and smack the crap out of my victims, and hopefully when the 30 day trial period is done I can be voted back in and be a full-on Bozo again.
Fly dangerous,

Clown Banter Contest #1: I really like you but...
The question we pose to our fellow bloggers for the first installment of the CKIAGFEBBC is, “What is the thing you hate/dislike most about the player run corporation you are in.”
Ah, asking qustions that could cause countless amounts of tears, pain and suffering... yep, it's from the BOZOs alright! Well, I'll give T and Q something to chew on as well because as a lot of people may know, I've spent quite a bit of time in Bozoland and there were a few things I disliked there too. And since I've known only 2 corps/alliances since my humble beginnings I'll make sure to keep everyone happy. I'll also add some things that I really like about each corp. T, Q, if you guys see things as bending the contest rules then by all means disqualify me, but I'm the one typing at the keyboard here :) I'll also like to add that if you really hate something about your corp/alliance, like hate it with a passion, then just quit it and find another corp/alliance better suited for you. Not really hating AMC nor BOZO, I will go with "dislike" for this contest. Alright, let's dive right in...
Apoapsis Multiversal Consortium / ChaosStorm Corporation
What I really dislike: OH MY GOD is AMC a quiet place. There could be 20 people online sometimes and you can get 1 or 2 to answer your "hello" in Alliance chat. Since the departure of a certain corp things did get a bit better, and also EVE audio in Alliance sees more use but still. I know there are a lot of industrialists who are busy with some of the things required to do but when you've been in game say a couple hours and none of the 10-12 chat windows are blinking, things get dull and you lose interest. If we needed to lose a corp in order get more conversations going then all the better. But the quietness doesn't end there: the forums. AMC has some of the deadest forums I've ever seen in any game. I've even sent alliance mails trying to wake people up and talk about what they're doing in-game so that people out-of-game can know WTF is going on, but apart from myself and a few others, forum participation is very small. Not a good thing if you ask me.
What I really like: with the place being so quiet, you can do stuff on your own without feeling like you're letting the team down, unless it's something that goes against corp/alliance policies. And I will say something about my current mates: when something happens that is a threat quietness goes by the wayside and stuff starts to happen. When jokers invade a wormhole system, we get together and fuck 'em up. When other jokers put a POS in our backyard we reinforce the thing and then we pop it, regardless of casualties. When yet more jokers reinforce one of our POSes, we make sure they don't kill it. So AMC may be too quiet for my taste, but it is a good bunch of people to fly with.
Clown Punchers Syndicate:
What I really dislike: This must be a problem encountered in other PvP corps and alliances: finding time to do your own things in the game is very hard, and sometimes impossible. In this game you need ISK for basically everything and even if there's a totally awesome ship and rig replacement program you always need ISK for something like skillbooks, newer and better ships, etc. And of course as you get more advanced these things cost more and more and when you're having a hard time rubbing two ISK together this sucks balls. There were times where for some reason Curse (back then) was very dead and even taking a fleet out on a roam didn't solve anything because EVE was dead in general. And yes, I'll even admit that there were a few times where I told myself "if I had spent all this time ratting I'd be 50mil richer...". My point is you have to make ISK somehow, even if you're in a PvP corp.
What I really like: Action, action, action, and more action !!! When things got busy around Bozo HQ, or out on a roam 20 jumps away with kills every other jump, Bozo was, and still is I think, The Best Place to play EVE. Be it in a BC fleet, a Jihad fleet, or a full-on RRBS fleet, there is always someone willing to fly with you to go out and kill some reds/neuts. Sometimes it felt like gorging ourselves on death and destruction, and life was good. And I will freely admit that I miss this part very much.
And that's it for me. I hope I get this ball rolling >:)

Assaulting heavily
In the past few weeks as I had very little time to be in-game I decided to train something big that I had put off when the Quantum Rise speed re-balance was announced. I had then veered off the HAC path to concentrate on the interdictors. After I finally got into my Broadsword I started to train the battleship skills, but getting into the large T2 guns would take a long time so now that I can fly semi decent Tempests, Maelstroms, Megathrons and Hyperions (I don't have the missile skills for the Typhoon or the drone skills for the Dominix) it is finally time I come back to the ship I was aiming for since that faithful day in January 2008 when I first installed the EVE client. Back then I was reading every guide I could find, and also bombarding Letrange with every imaginable noob question. Among questions about what to train immediately, game mechanics, and that dreaded GUI, one of the questions I asked was a lot more long term for the 900k SP noob I was: what would be the best ship that would fit my flying style like a latex glove. My performance requirements were the following: I want a ship that accelerates like a Top Fuel dragster, hits like Mike Tyson, and has just enough of a tank to get out of dodge with no one the wiser. Letrange's answer: "You sir are a Vagabond pilot". Awesome... WTF is a Vagabond? :))
The first time I did a "Show info" and "View market details" on the Vaga had my eyes pop out of my skull and my jaw hitting my keyboard. Not only would this ship take just shy of Forever to train up for, but it would also take more ISK than I could ever imagine having... ah, the things that scare us when we start this daunting adventure! So slowly but surely I start walking down the HAC path from its very beginning, doing the best I could to polish up the skills that would allow me to fit the ship correctly when eventually I'd get it. Fast forward to the present and the time has now come. Millions of ISK don't scare me nearly as much anymore (though being a PvPer keeps me on the "poor" list) and all the necessary fitting skills are ready. On Tuesday, June 30th, Cozmik R5 will have acheived the ability to fly Heavy Assault Cruisers! And not only the Vagabond and Muninn of his Minmatar heritage, but also the Ishtar and Deimos because my moving hiatus gave me the time to train up Gallente Cruiser V; the drone and hybrid gun skills still need a lot of work but I'm slowly getting there especially because I trained up for a decently fit Taranis.
The main problem in flying these ships will be the difficulty in replacing the inevitable losses when I'll fly them in PvP. I will admit that my trade alt is doing better and better, but I'll also admit that I'm far from being able to buy each one of the ships, fit them, rig them, and get replacements. But I will make an exception where the Vagabond is concerned; I have tons of modules to fit it, and it's the ship I've wanted from the very start. Things would be slightly different if I were still in BOZO as these guys have THE BEST ship replacement program in the entire game, but until my eventual return (yes, you heard it here first, if they still want me of course!) I will learn to fly the ship while I myself take care of funding it. That will force me to fly it smart, but yes, there are very good chances that I'll be flying it the only way I know how: DANGEROUS >:))
Fly that way too... it's the only way

Vast quantities of suck4ge
Those who know me out of game may know that I am the father of two young boys, Léandre and Timothée, respectively not quite 3 and not quite 2 years old. It is also pretty common knowledge that for just over a year now I've been separated from their mother, and believe me when I tell you it was for the best. But now the financial strain of alimony payments is starting to hit me like a gank-fit battlecruiser fleet on a fail-fit battleship. To those not into PvP, just know that said battleship lives about 3 seconds and you'll have a picture of just how bad things are. So when Real Life stuff like alimony, car payments, various utility bills, and this little thing known as FOOD is becoming harder and harder to pay for, some drastic measures must be taken, and paying 15$ USD a month for an MMO account is not a possibility anymore, let alone two accounts.
An so it is that on Christmas day at 0300 EVEtime (December 24th at 10PM Montreal time... what timing, eh?), Cozmik R5 and Demonia Gardens will have entered the cryogenic freezer for an undetermined period of time. There is just no way around it, unless someone wants to pay for me for an undetermined period of time, which is just not going to happen in this lifetime. I know that some people will say "Well, can't you buy PLEXes and GTCs with ISK?". Just know that I've been in the PvP business basically from the start, and although I have never been in financial trouble in-game thanks to much helpful advice rather than actual ISK donations, I have nowhere near the amount of ISK required to support even a single account in long term. So to but it bluntly in four words: sucks to be me.
So now I have about a week and a half of game time left so I'll do my best to get in on as much action as I can. The worst thing about leaving is that I'm doing so at a time when I'm getting more and more comfortable in the role of FC, and skillwise the ships I can fly are getting faster, better, and deadlier by the minute. I know that it's impossible to train a last skill as the accounts close but worse than that is the feeling of letting people down; as some have said before, Internet Spaceships is SERIOUS BUSINESS !!!
So what will I do during my time away from EVE, you ask? Here's a short list:
- Flight simulation. I have this awesome Saitek X52 FCS that's begging to be used.
- Race simulation. I AM SPEED! I need it like I need air to breathe, and crave it like a kid craves chocolate.
- First-Person Shooters, namely the Quake collection. Thanks once again to Letrange I've been a Quaker since pretty much Day One, and intend to stay that way.
- MechWarrior4: Mercenaries, with Mektek and NetBattleTech add-ons. Ph34r my triple Ultra AC20 equipped Dire Wolf of Doom, and my long-range Blood Asp of Light Mech Insta-Popping :)
- Diablo, Hellgate, Elder Scrolls, and various other RPGs of the single-player kind.
- Play as much drums as humanly possible.
Now, when will I get back to EVE? Frankly, I do not know. I do know that things should fix themselves financially because last week my ex found a job in her field of work, which is Quebec Sign Language if you want to know, and that means the alimony will get a much appreciated drop. But I still want to have my head raised above the financial waters before I get back to an MMO subscription because this is not something I want to have to do every year. One thing is sure, I am not exactly "quitting EVE". I will keep following what's happening in-game and will still read the various blogs and listen to the podcasts as they come out. My alliance even told me they'll keep a seat warm for me and I sincerely hope I won't keep them waiting too long.
So there you go. It's been a great pleasure writing here about my adventures and misadventures, and I may even post once in a while even if what I'll write about will be on subjects completely different from EVE. And then again maybe I'll post something about EVE! I hope I'll be back soon....
To the carebears: Fly safe, watch local, and dock up when reds show up !!!
To the PvPers: Fly with claws out and teeth bared !!!
To the Bozos: Holy Motherf***ing Sh*t I'm gonna miss you guys... le clown est triste... <:*(
This is Cozmik R5, signing off.

Jihad gone right... or wrong... or... o_O
And once in a Blue Moon something crazy like this happens (sorry to sensitive people, this really is Bozo's killboard):
http://www.eatabagofdicks.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=10075
We expected to die, and what we got instead is the best ISK loss ratio I've ever seen in my short EVE career, let alone FC career. I don't know who was FCing on their side but DAMN !!!
Update attempt #2 (plz don't crash on me)
Here's to hoping Blogspot saves correctly; I'll copy everything to a text file after I'm done just in case. So the fleet was starting to form up at about 0030 evetime with a scheduled departure time of 0100. As this was pretty much my idea and I had volunteered to FC I was finding myself stuck between fitting my ship (a gank Thorax for a slight change of pace), distributing ships and mods to players who had nothing but T2 stuff, answering private convos, and even interviewing a newcomer into our midst (a first for me), all while the Bozos were goofing off on Vent. But by some kind of miracle at 0100 pretty much everybody was ready and only a few minutes later we were jumping out of Jorund.
As we were getting deeper into Curse there wasn't much action but I had a plan and a destination, the Q-GQ system in Wicked Creek. It's no big secret that this is one of our favorite playgrounds and I think you can see why. In our first pass in Q-GQ we got a cloaky Zealot (huh... ok) off the station, and someone on our outbound gate killed a Manticore who should've cloaked; EVE is weird that way! I have the fleet go on a small tour of the Q-GQ constellation and at some point we catch and tackle a Disco-Rokh (a Rokh fitted with a full rack of smartbombs if you want to know), and as we're looting it a lone TCF Badger MkII jumps right into us. He lasted about 3 seconds, including the pod! After we're done with him I decide to take the fleet to the adjoining dead-end constellation in the search for more tasty kills, and our route takes us back to the Q-GQ system, which by now is alerted to our antics. This is where the fun starts.
Jumping straight into an enemy fleet is usually a bad omen as that fleet is already set up at optimals and waiting for you, and your all scattered and hit by surprise. I had the fleet hold cloak as long as it could while I was deciding my first primary. When I call that the ECM (in the form of a single Falcon) has to go, my much-more-experienced CEO reminds me that this Falcon is over 200km away. As I find myself at a loss and time is running out I then delegate the primary-calling to him. The Ishtar is called and the Battle of Q-GQ begins. And then it's the Thorax. And then the Purifier. Then the Jag. The Raptor, Hawk, Moa... and then work starts on the bigger ships. A Falcon dies and is replaced by another, but this one gets jammed by our Blackbird. And it just doesn't stop until the Typhoon finally arrives to meet his fate. And they just could not kill us !!! After a small lull a Raven arrives and we finally get him on the other side of the XQS gate. And believe it or not as we had jumped out someone had brought a Badger in to loot the wrecks so we all jumped back into Q-GQ and our faster elements finally catch him in the 1L-OEK system. WHAT A RUSH !!! We finally get to loot all the wrecks and fill our cargo holds to full capacity, and we decide then to go back home to drop off loot and then go out again.
You'd think we'd stop here? Noooo! I decided to stay docked to write my after-actions report in our forums but another player took over FC duty and brought the same gang, plus/minus a few players, to the exact same system. As I'm finishing off my report they kill another Raven and an Arbitrator, and I rejoin the fleet just in time to get in on a Drake kill. We ended our evening by playing station games with a Moros dreadnought of all things! If we had somehow been able to bump the ship out of dock range we might have gotten him, after a very long time of course, but a dread is a Big Ship and the station in Q-GQ has a huge docking range, so nothing came of it. After about a half-hour of smacking local (which had gone down drastically since the big battle... I wonder why) we called an end to a very successful, or unsuccessful as so little of us died, and headed towards home.
Now, I have very little to no knowledge of low-sec pirating, capital ship and POS warfare, Faction warfare, or the more usual activities in EVE like mining, exploration, missioning or industry. but I doubt very much that any of these things can be as exciting and as satisfying as the 0.0 skirmish warfare we did yesterday night. This ranks way up there as one of my greatest nights of playing EVE :)
!!! Alliance pimp4ge time !!!
If any of this kind of PvP appeals to you, and you are certain that you want NOTHING but PvP action (no POS fueling, no territory holding, no mining ops, maybe a bit of 'plexing to change the pace if a good one is found), then feel free to come by the "Bigtop" channel in-game and talk to anyone there. If I happen to be offline, tell whoever you're talking to that Cozmik sent you :))
Fly cheap, kill rich !!!
