And here we are. After about a year and a half, Reykjavik is throwing its Valhalla-sized doors wide open to receive the world - OK, a small portion of it - to talk about the Serious Business of Internet Spaceships. There will be announcements, there will be discussions, there will be loud music and there will be immense quantities of Polar Beer ingurgitated. Unfortunately because of my dramatic financial events at the end of 2010 there was no way I could make it this year but I'm keeping my hopes up for 2012. But this doesn't mean I will pout in a corner and sulk; a few of the Montreal pilots will be getting together to follow the various EVE TV streams. Something tells me we will also repeat the Beer-Pizza thing we did after my move, but it will also be something of a pre-EVE Meet because yes, this is a Montreal Meet weekend.
As I have posted in the "Events and gatherings" threads on the EVE-O forums anyone who would want to get a small feel of the Fanfest can come and join us at Brutopia and get together with a bunch of internet-spaceship-loving guys/gals (yes, we've had an ex-BRUCE female pilot once!). We may not have Polar Beer in Montreal, but Brutopia's finest will do fine. We may not have StevieSG, but the Bruto-staff is even hotter... sorry Stevie !!! :))

Seriously, blogger comrade Kirith Kodachi will be doing a reprise of the "Bring Me The Head Of Kirith Kodachi" event. If you don't know what this is here's the short version: Kirith will land a fully operational Chimera carrier at a planet in a Low-sec system and hand prizes to whoever will get the final blow, top damage, and finally Kirith's pod. There will be an attacker fleet but also a defender fleet. Having been part of the first event, I can tell you this is nothing but pure fun. Some people who are red to each other are fighting for the same side, some blues shoot at each other, Goons are Goons and shenanigans happen. All in all a great hour to spend and a great opportunity to get on a capital ship killmail. I don't know about you, but to me the only good cap ship is a dead cap ship !!! Follow the Ninveah blog and podcast for further developments.

BMTHOKK aftermath
What a crazy night of fireworks that was! Before I go into my view of the event let's summerize it: blogger Kirith Kodachi was celebrating 6 years of blogging and 2000 blog posts, so he put on a live event where he would sit at a planet in the Teshkat system for 30 minutes accompanied with some of his corpmates from M3 corp. In a great show of solidarity, and expecting super capitals to wreck the party, Noir Mercenary Group decided to celebrate their 3rd anniversary by being Kirith's honor guard. Some other corps went to Kirith's defence so there was no doubt about it, he was gonna be a tough nut to crack.
The way it worked was like this. Two channels had been made for attackers and defenders respectively, so when someone got to Teshkat all he had to do was join one of the two channels and X up for fleet the old fashioned way. A few guys from Morsus Mihi had taken the reins of the attacker fleet but one thing was certain: there were A LOT MORE defenders than attackers. And to make things even more interesting, just a few minutes before the kick-off a Goonswarm gang arrived in Local and smacked like mad; for the record, the BOZOs were much better smackers. All told there was about 300 people in Local when the festivities started.
My mighty Rifter was among the first ones to arrive on the scene, and for starters my job was to maybe get rid of a few frigates. First mistake: I aggro'd on arrival so when I would inevitably lose my ship I would have to wait out the damn GCC... I cannot hate the GCC more than I hated it yesterday. Second mistake, I didn't take into account the awesome amount of logistics ships on the field. Popping a single frigate at the main battle site was pretty much impossible unless you had a ship that could insta-pop them. So for the time being the attacker fleet broke off and spread out to all the other planets to pick off followers, and this worked awesomely. But at least one guy had remained on the main battle field, and he was to become one of the heroes of the night.
After my GCC had expired I rejoined the fray in a harder hitting Thorax and started hunting GCC-afflicted enemies with my fleet-mates. At some point the comms were full of excitement when someone called that the Chimera's shield were going down. As the 30 minutes were close to being done I bee-lined for Kirith and tackled him so he couldn't fly off, but it was in vain as he was repaired almost instantly. So we broke off again, this time taking a lot less losses and returned to hunt GCC's. At least this insured that I would be on the killmail! The 30 minutes finally expired and everyone was wondering how Kirith would break the status quo. My corpmate Felix Dcat, who had stayed with the carrier for the entire time and for some reason remained ignored by the defender fleet, called again that the carrier's shields were going down. Everyone thought that this was another case of bait-tanking as we called it, but suddenly Felix called "he's into armor, and dropping fast!". Soon after he confirmed that Noir had turned its guns on Kirith's Chimera and if we wanted to be on the field went it blew up we had to boogie, so boogie we did. Mere seconds after we landed, the Ninveah's sister ship was turned into a ball of flames. We all checked our combat logs frantically but the answers soon came: I can't remember who got the final blow or who podded Kirith (much less who got the most kills during the op) but Felix Dcat, who managed to stay right on top of the Chimera for the entire length of the op, delivered over 107000 damage and earned the prize for top damage, a Guristas' Gila cruiser. There couldn't have been a better end to this event!
All in all this was an awesome event to be a part of. Many congratulations are in order: To Kirith Kodachi for his 6 years of blogging, his hosting and organizing of the event and for being an awesome sport. To Alekseyev Kaarde and Noir Mercenary Group for 3 years of operation and living up to the name of "honor guard". To my corpmate Felix Dcat for putting AMC and MAPU right on top of the damage board. To all the other winners which I don't remember right now and can't check because my work's firewall is too stupid (no worries, I will edit the post as soon as I get home). To Goonswarm for not disappointing in being your crazy selves. And finally to everyone who showed up from all over New Eden, sometimes leaving far-away Null-sec homes just to get a crack at Kirith. Both fleets had people who are usually enemies flying together and generally having an awesome time. I would also like to personally thank the guy who stepped up as FC on the attacker side; I may not like huge fleets and 0.0 blobs but when stuff needed to get done he got it done faster than I've seen in some 10-man fleets.

Two years until Apocalypse...
Or Armageddon, or Ragnarok, or Judgement Day, or whatever else your religion calls it. So now's the time to buy that mansion you've always wanted, that sweet Lamborghini Murcièlago LP670-4 SV, that Learjet, etc. Am I serious? Well of course not! I just had to find a way to open my blog on this winter solstice. I do take a bit more seriously this wayward rock called Apophis that's supposed to pass us by in 2029, and even more seriously the "keyhole" it's supposed to go through. But enough depressing thoughts for now; if our time comes, it'll come, and if I know in advance that it's coming I'll probably celebrate the event with a Magnum bottle of La Fin du Monde :))
On to EVE business. Because of a really fun impromptu get-together with the Montreal EVE pilots, I had a massive hang-over on saturday so I didn't feel like doing any space travel. Sunday was a bit better but I was still in couch potato mode, and I wanted to get out to see Tron: Legacy. I loved it by the way; if you're looking for a movie with a deep story and you're not really into sci-fi to begin with, this movie is not for you. If you're like me and you're more interested about having your eye balls cook in their sockets, then by all means go see it in Imax 3D... a regular movie screen just isn't big enough! I was glued to the movie from start to finish, and even the credits are cool to watch.
But back to EVE, all I did over the weekend was one skill flip and a couple missions, one on Saturday proving me that "3D environments + hang-overs = bad", and one yesterday. But they've made me come to a conclusion: the Noctis saves a crap load of time and allows to make a lot more ISK, at least in my case. Sometimes I would skip salvaging missions because it was just too tedious for the amount I'd receive, but now I can salvage really quick and then go on to other things. I don't yet know if these ships will be included on the "to suicide-gank" list at the next Hulkageddon (it is an ORE ship after all) but at least the ship does the job it's meant to do in a brilliant fashion.

"WTF is this?" you ask. It stands for "Bring Me The Head Of Kirith Kodachi". Some time later this winter, my fellow blogger Kirith will be celebrating his 2000th blog post and 6 years of blogging. And when Kirith is in a festive mood he celebrates by giving away free stuff! But this time he's putting a twist on it: at a yet unannounced date and time, in a yet unannounced Low-sec system (methinks Amarr regions...), Kirith will cyno his Chimera at a planet and will be gank bait for 30 minutes. Prizes will go to whoever gets the final blow, whoever does the most damage, everyone on the pod mail (fit a SeBo!), and whoever returns Kirith's popsicle carcass back to him. And if Kirith survives the 30 minutes he keeps his stuff; I say he doesn't survive 15!
So do I intend to get a shot at Kirith's sweet loot? Yessiree Bob! Of course it won't be a walk in the park as word will probably spread like wild fire and all of Kirith's readers and their buddies will want a crack at him. And I'm sure he has Carrier V and Triage V or something. Plus with a whole bunch of people coming from a whole bunch of corps and alliances, mayhem will most definitely ensue (yay!). I've been on exactly 4 capital ship killmails (3 carriers and 1 dreadnought) but I must admit that those were pretty fail-fit, and the first carrier and dread were in the same humongous cluster-fuck of lag in my BOZO n00b days. No, Kirith is a true-blue carrier pilot and he'll be a tough nut to crack. But whatever happens one thing is certain: there will be quite a light show for the fictitious inhabitants of that planet. And I suspect that there might be a few Titans showing up to DD the Chimera to bits. Yep, this will be pretty awesome! Thank you Kirith for providing such an awesome event, and may you have many more years of EVE blogging. Now, are you doing the same thing with the Wyvern next time? :))
