Friday's Electric Lunch Hour - 2012/01/27

Been wanting to post this for a long time.

Enjoy!

Friday's Electric Lunch Hour - 2011/10/07

I was rewatching Vika's Reykjavik show with Brian Viglione and just had to post the powerful closing tunes. So crank it up and get blasted.

Also on the music front, tonight I'm going to see Dream Theater, with Trivium as an opening act. Should be something :)

To celebrate Vika's imminent arrival in the USA (not Canada unfortunately, for now at least) here's a sample of the piano dominatrix's Zurich concert. Puppets is one of the few tunes she could play after busting the low E-flat string. Yes, she busted a string on a 50k$ grand piano XD

Enjoy!

This week features my favorite piano dominatrix at a show played 2 weeks ago in Reykjavik, Iceland. Dresden Dolls drummer Brian Viglione had discovered Vika on Youtube like the rest of us, but he decided he had to do something with her so he contacted her, much to her shock! This video was the 5th of 10 and I do suggest you check out the other ones. Vika played so hard she bruised her left ring finger early in the show, but she's so awesome it didn't phase her one bit.

To tie in with EVE Online, at the end of the tune the cameraman does a quick pan of the crowd, and who do we see at the 3:49 mark? None other than ex-BOZO, ex-AMC, and now current Stimulus dual-boxing skirted viking berserker/rapist, Cerui Tarshiel !!! Yep, I still hate him for having basked in the awesomeness of Vika :)

Friday's Electric Lunch Hour - 2010/11/26

I was going through various Frank Zappa videos one day, and came across some people who were doing various covers of Frank's tunes. But one of those covers caught my eye: a girl by the nickname of vkgoeswild had posted a piano cover of Frank's G-spot Tornado. This is one of Frank's technical masterpieces. And after watching it I was floored. About a week later I get one of those "because you watched so-and-so" suggestions on Youtube and it was a Metallica cover by vkgoeswild. So I tell myself "she can own a Zappa tune... let's see what she can do with metal". And I couldn't believe what I had just seen. Instant subscribe, and I checked out the rest of her posts. Next thing I knew it was around 4AM and I was completely mesmerized. There are so many videos of her I could have posted here but I think "Ktulu" is a good example of just how wild Ms Viktoriya Yermolyeva can go. Other fine examples are Metallica's "Orion", Type O Negative's "Love you to Death", Slayer's "Raining Blood"... this one is also worth seeing, as Vika completely translates the power and darkness of this song into her piano. And she has tons more covers. Oh by the way, she makes her own sheet music... o_O

Oh, and to tie in with EVE Online, this cute and shy classically-trained piano destroyer is currently stationed in Reykjavik, and she enjoys having coffee in a place near her house called CCP Games. She also proudly wears the "Harden The Fuck Up" rubber bracelets :)
